Experience
Adolescents- It is difficult being a teenager in general, but as social media has become a major fixture in our lives, teens become super stressed and compare themselves with others often. Mary has helped teenagers navigate these fallacies and reframe them in more adaptive ways. Many need help building self-esteem. She has assisted those with identity and body dysmorphia struggles. For many teens, they are going through their first breakup, so walking through with a trusted therapist processing through these issues, can be helpful. Also, many teens have dealt with their parents divorcing and the struggles that come with that or regular conflict with family members. Mary guides kids through bullying and peer pressure. In addition, she helps teens process through sexual, physical or emotional abuse that has been done to them. Additionally, she helps some who self-harm and suicidal ideation and see no way out of their struggles and provides distress tolerance strategies and safety protocols, if needed. Mary provides teens with tools and empowers them through their struggles
Individuals- Mary counsels adults with many of life stressors whether it is a transition they are going through with jobs, career switches, or navigating divorce. Work relationships can be a challenge and the job itself can present struggles, too. When individuals experience a breakup or a loss of any nature, processing that with a therapist can be validating and empowering at the same time. She works with individuals who are feeling sad and struggle with finding hope and good in the world. Sometimes adults just want insight into something they are struggling with and need a listening ear with professional feedback. Mary has worked with women with various issues with self-esteem after children or through Menopause or navigating older age. Parenting is tough yet rewarding and with Mary she will help navigate challenges with compassion and empathy and nonjudgement as this is a vulnerable place with parents. Mary works with parents navigating divorce with children and coparenting and the complexities that has. Mary provides EMDR to individuals who have experienced tragic accidents or who have suffered sexual, physical and emotional abuse. She provides an environment where your feelings are valid through your counseling experience.
Couples- Mary helps couples sort things out and is like a coach through the process helping couples understand each other for their differences. Sometimes, couples argue a lot, or they’re having trouble communicating, and they just can’t seem to see eye to eye. Other times, Mary may help navigate with the big stuff like trust issues, infidelity, or feeling disconnected from each other. Counseling gives them a chance to talk openly and honestly with a neutral third party who can offer guidance and tools to help them strengthen their relationship and find their way back to a happier, healthier partnership. Parents come in for guidance on what is too strict and what is too passive and finding that middle ground with teenagers as teens navigate their newfound independence.,
Families- Like couples, Mary is like a coach in family counseling, too as she sorts through and helps families navigate relational trauma and interpersonal conflict. Sometimes, families argue a lot, or there’s tension and conflict that just won’t go away. Other times, Mary helps those dealing with big changes like a divorce, a move, or a loss, and they’re not sure how to adjust. Counseling gives them a chance to talk about their feelings, learn new ways to communicate, and find solutions to their problems.
